Deep Tissue Massage
What are the benefits of Deep Tissue Massage?
Receiving touch is one of the fastest and most nurturing ways to deeply relax and to feel a wonderful sense of wellbeing.
Touch in the form of deep tissue massage:
-
Eases muscular tension
-
Soothes mental & emotional stress
-
Relaxes general aches, pains & strains
-
Supports lymphatic drainage - beneficial if your lymphatic system has been compromised in any way.

My approach supports tension-release. I blend in deep work with gentler touch and stretches, which clients find very pleasurable, as it encourages the release of feel-good endorphins.

Our bodies – as well as our minds – can easily get stuck in patterns of holding and tension. This can be a result of any number of physical or psychological issues including stress, injury, over-exertion, illness, trauma, fear and worry to name some of the most common.

Coming into a welcoming environment to receive my professional, focused attention and soothing touch is conducive for your body and mind to let go. Treatments are designed to re-balance and re-set your whole system; it is much like rebooting your computer.

Massage is a detox. By working on your blood circulation as well as your lymphatic system, the treatment will support your body to release and process toxins. It is for this reason I recommend drinking water following a treatment and – if possible – having plenty of rest and wholesome food and drink for the rest of the day.

How much does a Massage Session cost?

For a one-hour session I charge £60, please let me know if money is an issue as I can make concessions for those on lower incomes.
What qualifications do you have?

I hold an ITEC Massage certificate and have undergone further training courses, including one-year of Shiatsu Massage which has given me a basic understanding of the Chinese system of holistic health.
My work as a Massage Therapist has spanned over thirty years, mostly on a self-employed basis though I did work in a health club soon after qualifying.
I receive consistently very positive feedback from clients.

What can I expect in a session?

After coming into my warm, cosy treatment room, we will have a brief conversation so I can understand what you need from the massage and take note of any relevant medical history and/or significant stresses in your life.
I will then leave the room giving you space to undress (typically down to your underwear) and lie on the heated massage couch, covered with a towel. There is a cushion for your feet to support your lower back and one for your face for optimum comfort.
I will return and start the massage, initially working gently to warm your muscles and for you to get used to my touch. It is up to you if you want to stay quiet through the massage or talk with me, or a little of both. Please note, as a trained coach I am skilled in listening and anything you share will remain confidential.
I attune to your body and gauge the depth of pressure needed and always welcome feedback to give you the best experience possible.
I will let you know when the massage is finished and leave you to relax and get dressed in your own time. There is no rush, it is advisable to take things slowly following a treatment, especially if you are driving afterwards.

How long is a session?

I typically work for one hour and focus where you most need it. Most clients favour work on their back, shoulders, arms, neck and face. Treatments can include legs and feet when preferred. If you have a specific area of tension or an injury that needs extra attention, I will tailor the session accordingly.
